The World of Obsession

Progression is my Obsession – Anonymous

Do you know what an ‘Obsession’ is? Well, it is a mechanism of coping and dealing with one’s insecurities about a person or a thing or probably oneself.

Most of the world’s population either considers it a curse or treat it as unacceptable trait about someone’s personality. Someone has said, “Anything that is too much is bad for your mind, body and soul.” Probably that’s why there is a term called, “Spiritual Depression” that surprisingly exists! Some say, ” Addiction is bad for a person.” “So is the obsession.”

Once you google the term, ‘Obsession’, you’ll get the search results with it’s meaning as, “the idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.” Probably a kind of addiction?

What gives birth to an addiction doesn’t entertain an obsession. While what gives birth to obsession has nothing to do with an addiction. The lack of fear gives birth to an Addiction, on the other hand, the presence of fear gives birth to Obsession. When it comes to outcome for both of these behaviors, they exhibit exactly the opposite outcomes. If we talk about ‘Addiction’, the final outcome for this is a fear of being found out which limits a person’s growth; while an ‘Obsession’ has a fearlessness of being found out as it’s outcome. In fact, obsession makes a person fierce and daring in their behavior breaking all the limits. (as based on my observation) Do you agree?

But, once you go into the depth of this subject, you’ll probably observe the behavioral changes in people who are obsessed with something or someone or probably themselves. It is all the same.

A person who is obsessed with something or someone, needs constant reassurance about their belief about a person or a thing. Without reassurance by some external circle of influence, these people might fall into the trap of low self-esteem or in rare cases, depression. As these people have already been fighting their insecurities for a very long time while hiding them under the cover of their obsession. If you are faithful and true to yourself, to the destiny, to the karma you’ve been performing, your intentions towards this world and to the almighty, then, there’s no need to get obsessed with anything or anyone. You may like a lot of people and things. Liking someone or something is different from any kind of addiction or obsession.

Obsession can be healthy or toxic. But, how do you recognize that? Well, obsession can be healthy if you can direct yourself towards your growth rather than getting stuck with the idea of someone or something. If that obsession hinders your personal growth as a being (including your physical, mental, emotional as well as spiritual growth), then, it is nothing less than a curse.
